A LIVING HISTORY – YOUR STORY

When meeting the past, it is important to recognize yourself, to see people, to feel with them and to learn their history. This also applies when meeting different cultures in the present. Danish Immigrant Museum collects the life stories of immigrants, in order to tell them in present times and to preserve them for posterity. Future generations should be able to meet the people who have made their mark on Denmark today. Knowledge of other people can come about both through personal narratives but also through what is communicated by objects, music, films and much more. In order to understand and tell of the importance of the immigrants for Denmark, Danish Immigrant Museum collects objects that tell of the journey between countries and cultures and of life as an immigrant.
